Know your thaali.
Take a photo of your meal or drink and Thaali estimates calories, protein, carbs, fat, fibre, sugar and sodium. It understands roti, dal, sabzi, sarson da saag, lassi and chai as well as food from around the world, in English and ਪੰਜਾਬੀ.
How it works
Three steps, one photo
No weighing scales or long food searches. Just the plate in front of you.
- 1
Snap a photo
Photograph your meal or drink with the camera, or pick a photo from your gallery. Add a hint like “homemade, made with ghee” if you like.
- 2
Get desi-aware nutrition
Thaali identifies each food, estimates the portion (rotis, katoris, glasses) and shows calories, protein, carbs, fat, fibre, sugar and sodium.
- 3
Track your day
Check and edit the items, save the meal, and see your day add up against your daily calorie goal on the Today screen.
Features
Made for the food you actually eat
Most calorie apps don’t know a paratha from a pancake. Thaali was built around everyday Punjabi and South Asian home and restaurant food, and handles global food too.
Item-by-item breakdown
Every food on the plate is listed with its estimated portion, calories and nutrients, plus how confident the estimate is.
You stay in control
Rename an item, change the portion (2 rotis → 3), delete it or add something missing. Totals update straight away.
Notes made for you
Gentle, personalised notes based on the health profile you choose to share, such as diabetes, blood pressure or a vegetarian diet.
Daily calorie goal
Thaali works out a daily calorie target from your profile, activity level and goals. You can change it any time.
Today & history
See today’s calories and macros at a glance, with “for you today” tips, and look back at past meals by date.
BMI with context
See your BMI on a simple scale, with a note that health risks for people of South Asian background can begin at a lower BMI.
English & ਪੰਜਾਬੀ
Use the whole app in English or Punjabi (Gurmukhi) and switch any time in Settings.
Knows about ghee and tadka
Portions are judged from katoris, rotis and plate size, and the hidden ghee, butter and oil common in Punjabi cooking are taken into account.
Private by design
Your meal photos are private to you. No ads, no tracking and we never sell your data. Export your data or delete your account in Settings. Privacy Policy

FAQ
Good questions
When can I download Thaali?
Thaali is coming soon to the App Store (iPhone) and Google Play (Android). This page will link to the stores as soon as the app is live.
How accurate are the numbers?
They are estimates. Portion size, hidden ghee or oil and how a dish was cooked all make a difference. You can edit any item before saving, and adding a hint such as “made with ghee” helps.
Is Thaali medical advice?
No. Thaali gives estimates and general information only. Please consult a doctor or registered dietitian before changing your diet, medication or treatment.
Does it only work for Punjabi food?
No. Thaali is built to understand everyday Punjabi and South Asian food really well, and it also recognises food from around the world.
What happens to my photos and health information?

How do I delete my account?
In the app go to Settings → Delete account, or see how to delete your account by email.
